DESCRIPTION:

Free From Factory Limitations!

For nearly 30 years, Ridetech has pushed the boundaries of suspension performance — but always within the constraints of factory chassis geometry. Ridetech’s Momentum Chassis Series changes all that.

This is Ridetech’s first-ever complete performance chassis: designed, engineered, and manufactured in the USA from the ground up for the GM A-Body platform. It delivers superior handling, increased wheel and tire clearance, and unmatched compatibility — all with the adjustability and strength builders demand.

Wheel/Tire Clearance: Fitting larger wheels and tires on muscle cars has been popular for decades now. The MOMENTUM series chassis is designed to allow larger wheel and tire fitment beyond factory chassis limitations, reducing the potential for tire and frame contact on the inside on wider setups and negatively impacting turning radius. Ridetech engineers found their best combination with a 18×9” wheel and 6” backspace which allowed for installation of a 275/40/18 Falken RT660 tire with no lock-to-lock steering issues on factory inner fender liners.

Suspension Geometry: While suspension geometry improvements can be had with changes to ball joint locations and control arm design, the original design still limits any changes outside of the factory pickup points. From the ground up the MOMENTUM chassis design allowed us to control exactly where we wanted those pickup points to be from both enthusiast and modern tech perspectives. This development yielded more desirable camber gain, caster, roll center, and Ackermann, translating to improved performance and ride quality.

Robust tubular upper and lower control arms attach to high-quality ball joints before affixing to either Ridetech’s Tall AFX hub or pin spindles. We also integrated our modular suspension design approach that accommodates both Ridetech coil-overs or Shockwave® air suspension.

Coil-overs or Air: Whether you select a static (coil-over) or dynamic (air suspension) drop, Fox Factory monotube shocks can be had in single, rebound adjustable (HQ) or triple adjustable (TQ) iterations, keeping your front tires glued to the ground whether you’re on the street or the track. Impact forged aluminum shock bodies provide superior strength while their monotube design offers superior fade free performance. The larger 1.834’’ piston provides outstanding ride quality and 24-positions of rebound adjustability allow fine-tuning the responsiveness of each corner of your ride.

Steering Improvements: Let’s face it. No one really wants their recent muscle car purchase to handle just like it did back when it was new. Modern rack and pinion steering is vastly superior to vintage recirculating ball-style steering systems, which is why manufacturers have long-since adopted rack-and-pinion steering. Likewise, the MOMENTUM chassis design incorporates the commonly available 99-04 Ford Mustang steering rack. Traditional steering that is old or worn-out factory-style steering components often feels disconnected or wanders under normal operation, whereas rack-and-pinion steering produces a much more direct and positive steering feel and response, leading to improved confidence behind the wheel. We carry the quick ratio PSC steering rack 99-04 variant, however standard versions can be ordered through auto parts retailers or other performance brands. We used PSC Rack Part # 11009556.

Drivetrain Options: We recognize that pulling the trigger on a chassis is a decision not taken lightly. With that in mind, the MOMENTUM chassis series accommodates a host of popular engine and transmission combinations that will satisfy a wide range of builders and customers thanks to an array of engine mount plates and an adjustable universal transmission crossmember.

  • Engines: Whether you’re looking to install the latest in direct-injection GM LT powerplants, fancy the simplicity and power of the LS family of engines, or want to kick it old-school with a conventional small or big block Chevy, our engine mount plates have you covered.
  • Transmissions: Our adjustable transmission crossmember will allow the shifting your own gears or let the balls and valves or a computer sort out when to shift. Popular manual transmission like the Tremec T-56/TKX, or classic Muncie and Saginaws are compatible as are popular automatics like the TH350/400/700R4, or 4L60/80E family. Not an exhaustive list*
  • Rear Axle Housings: Ridetech’s own Ford 9” rear axle housings are a staple of the MOMENTUM chassis and ensure that you’re able to put the power down, no matter how you’re using your classic A-Body. Both standard and narrowed axle widths are available. We also carry popular third members to complete your drivetrain.

Brakes: Whether you’re running a stock ‘pin style’ or later model ‘hub’ style variant spindle, Ridetech has you covered. Ridetech conveniently offers Wilwood and some Baer brakes solutions as a complement to applications we support, so you can successfully shop for your suspension and brake solutions in one place. Aftermarket pin spindle brakes are a great way to improve braking performance, but if you’re all about the latest in available braking technology our AFX hub spindles accommodate C5/C6/C7 Corvette hubs, which allow the installation of factory or aftermarket C5/C6 brake packages.
