With Chevrolet Performanceās aggressive ASA camshaft ā developed for the high-rpm world of circle-track racing ā installed in the LS3 6.2L engine, it comes alive with 525 (updated to 533) uncompromising horsepower. That makes it the most powerful naturally aspirated 6.2L street engine in our portfolio ā and one that has an edge to it. Youāll notice it in the idle quality and youāll feel it when the revs quickly climb.
The ASA camshaft is a hydraulic roller with .525-inch lift on both sides, along with 226 degrees duration on the intake side and 236 degrees on the exhaust side. Coupled with a tight, 110-degree lobe separation angle, it helps the engine deliver excellent throttle response and breathe exceptionally well at high rpm. And for durability, we complement the cam with higher-rate valve springs.
****NOTES FROM PTS:
-The ASA camshaft was originally designed for racing in the late 90's. This cam has a bit of valve overlap, and will have some additional fuel smell compared to other cams.Ā
-The horsepower on this engine makes peak power near redline. There is not a lot to be gained over the 495hp crate, other than a more lopey idle, and peak power.Ā
-If you have an automatic, make sure to have a high stall speed to help prevent surging.Ā
